About Constant Current

  • 350mA — Standard current for all Hudson Lighting products.
  • Driver Output — The voltage the driver needs to supply to overcome cable losses and power the lights.
  • Under 120V DC — Circuit must stay within extra low voltage limits. If exceeded, split into multiple circuits.

Maximum Cable Run Length Calculator

Work out the longest cable run you can achieve for a given set of lights, driver and cable size.

How It Works

  • Driver max voltage — Derived from the driver’s maximum wattage rating and operating current.
  • LED voltage — The voltage your lights need, calculated from total wattage ÷ current.
  • Spare voltage — The remaining voltage budget available for cable losses (capped at 120V DC ELV limit).
  • Max cable run — The longest single cable run (one-way distance from driver to last light) achievable before the driver runs out of voltage headroom.
  • If your run is longer than the maximum, consider splitting into multiple circuits or using a larger cable size.
